About SEESA

The Southeast European Studies Association (SEESA) is a scholarly, non-profit, non-political organization devoted to the exchange of knowledge amongst scholars interested in the area of Southeastern Europe.

In particular, SEESA seeks to promote instruction in North American colleges and universities, organize panels at national and international conferences, encourage the preparations of teaching materials and translations, foster exchanges, summer programs, publications, and research in the many fields that cover the area of Southeastern Europe. In addition, SEESA seeks to promote joint research, scholarly exchanges and conferences, expeditions, and publications with scholars in Southeastern European countries.

Membership in SEESA is open to all who have substantial interest in any aspect of scholarship relating to the Southeastern European area. Members whose dues are paid are eligible to vote and to receive Balkanistica, the newsletter and other publications.
